I ordered from the delivery app and I go pick up myself. The restaurant is not too big, however it’s very clean, which gives me a good first impression. The lady at the front desk is so kind, she keeps apologizing for letting me wait for a bit, even though I told her don’t worry it’s okay Food is amazing!! Especially sweet and sour porkThe portion is so big that my boyfriend and I even save the rest for next day lunch We will definitely visit again, try some more dishes!

Loved the food! Jia wei stands for "the taste of home": one of my family members came from the city as the owner, and she fully approved the taste that brought back some memories. Will visit again!

Jiawei is a warm, tiny restaurant in Burnaby that brings the bold, earthy flavours of Northwestern China to the table. The dishes are generous, hearty, and deeply satisfying, perfectly suited for sharing over a relaxed meal. We began with the bean curd tofu slice salad, a light and refreshing cold dish that balanced well against the richer plates to come. The stir-fried aubergine, green pepper, and potato was rustic and flavorful (somewhat greasy though i must say). The Jiawei chicken with chilli sauce and peanuts packed a proper punch, with just the right amount of heat and crunch, and the sweet and sour pork had a lovely balance, crispy outside, tender inside, and not over-sauced. The setting is small and cosy, but welcoming. You get the sense you’re being looked after as a guest, not just a customer in some corner of a small city in Northwest China. If you’re after authentic Northwestern Chinese food, bold, savoury, and generous, Jiawei is a fantastic choice. Well worth a visit, and perhaps not a bad choice for takeout too.

They deserve the high ratings. The shrimp wonton is awesome, as are the beef dumplings. The price is reasonable. Definitely recommend the Ma Hua, although it's quite big. Tried their signature pork dish in a delivery order and will try it again in-store. It’s a small cozy place, don’t suitable for large gatherings.

The service and food was amazing. Friends said it was the best authentic mum-and-pops Chinese restaurant they have been to in a long time. We got a variety of dishes to share and everything was awesome. Flavourful without being overly salty. Lamb dumplings is my new fav. And the deep fried eggplant I could eat every day!

Very good quality. Some dishes look a little pricey, but the ingredients are all top notch. I tried the Uni and Shrimp Dumplings in soup and it was bang on. The Uni tasted fresh and the shrimp was fresh and bouncy, the broth was clean and made from scratch. You can tell by the shape of the dumplings that they are handmade and not previously frozen. All the dishes coming out looked amazing. The place was packed and the kitchen was spotless! The dumpling dishes are all reasonably priced.

Cozy little neighborhood restaurant serving up a variety of authentic Chinese dishes with great spice level. We ordered several dishes for lunch and enjoyed all of them. Staff are super friendly and speak both English and Chinese. Reasonable prices. They have several parking spots behind the restaurant.
